Bangkok: The video evidence is undeniable as "Big Jok," a high-ranking police officer, has been implicated in a bribery case involving 246 baht worth of gold. The police have confirmed the evidence, and the case file has been submitted for prosecution.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Inspector General of the Royal Thai Police, alongside several high-ranking officials, announced the developments in the case against Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakparn and others. They are accused of bribing members of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) with gold bars, which were captured in video recordings being inspected and handed over to NACC commissioners through their security personnel.
The video showcases the inspection of gold bars inside a car, where Pol. Col. Pakphum Phisamai, a former associate of Pol. Gen. Surachet, is seen transferring a bag of gold to a driver associated with a NACC member. Pol. Col. Pakphum has provided detailed information about the incident to the investigative team led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Panngaeo.
Additionally, audio recordings have surfaced, revealing conversations about negotiations in an online gambling case tied to Pol. Gen. Surachet and others, which is currently under NACC review.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong asserted that the evidence robustly supports the existence of the gold transaction, with complete documentation verifying the bribery. Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat disclosed that the case file submitted to the NACC on January 5th included allegations against an NACC commissioner for accepting bribes. Charges have been laid against Pol. Gen. Surachet and four others for offering bribes, with the incident's details becoming public on January 6, 2026.
