Cambodian Mortar Fire Injures Thai Soldier; Nam Yuen Residents Remain on Alert

Bangkok: Villagers in Nam Yuen District are living normal lives after Cambodia fired shots.

Residents of Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, are continuing their normal lives after Cambodian mortar fire injured Thai soldiers, but are ready to evacuate immediately if ordered. At 7:25 AM today, the Suranaree Task Force received a report of an explosion in the Chong Bok area, near Hill 469, Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. As a result, Sergeant Major Prachya Pilachai, commander of the 1st Platoon, 6021st Infantry Company (RDF), sustained shrapnel wounds to his right arm. He was assessed as a critically injured patient and has been transferred to Nam Yuen Hospital for further treatment. His condition is stable.

According to Thai News Agency, reporters surveyed the situation in Ban Non Sung, Dom Pradit Subdistrict, Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, and found that residents were continuing their lives as normal. They were gathering to discuss the events of the morning, but there had been no order to evacuate. However, residents were preparing to move out of the area immediately.

One resident of Nam Yuen district revealed that they heard an explosion this morning, but were unsure if it was a real explosion until they checked Facebook and learned about the incident.
