According to Thai News Agency, the 2026 AFC Women's Championship qualifiers aim to determine six teams that will advance to the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup finals in Brazil. In Group B, the Thai national women's football team, known as "Chaba Kaew" and ranked 46th globally, faced off against Timor-Leste, who are ranked 158th, at the 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium. In this match, Saowalak Pengngam led the team to victory with a hat trick, scoring in the 5th, 31st, and 45th minutes. Ploychompoo Somnuk sealed the win with a goal in the 90+1 minute, resulting in a 4-0 triumph for Thailand. This victory places them third in the table, trailing Iraq, the group leader with four points, albeit having played one more match. Looking ahead, the Thai national team is set to face Iraq, ranked 173rd in the world. The matc h is scheduled for June 29 at 4:00 p.m. at the 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Sports Stadium.
