Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital Launches Campaign to Promote Colon Cancer Screening

Bangkok: Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital organized a health awareness campaign titled "Colon Cancer is Preventable through Screening." Dr. Kriengkrai Tangjitmaneesakda, Director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Medical Department, presided over the opening of the event. He was welcomed by Dr. Porntep Saeheng, Director of Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital, alongside other executives at the Udom Sangworayan Meeting Room, located on the 23rd floor of the 72nd Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's Reign Building.

According to Thai News Agency, the campaign aims to raise public awareness about preventing colorectal cancer and to educate high-risk groups on the importance of screening. The event emphasized the necessity of early detection and prevention, providing education on colorectal cancer, abnormal bowel movements, symptom observation, disease prevention, treatment methods, and the significance of early colorectal cancer screening.

Dr. Kritsakorn Srikiritiwong, a surgeon specializing in colorectal surgery, delivered a presentation on the campaign's theme. The event also included activities such as "Fit Test: Is it Difficult? Can I Do It Myself?" led by Ms. Pannawadee Wechmook, a specialist nurse in wound care, ostomy, and constipation control, and "Colonoscopy: How to Prepare and Ensure a Safe Procedure," presented by Ms. Chanutporn Rattanamongkol, another specialist nurse in the same fields. Attendees participated in health-related activities and consultations, viewed a board presentation on "Colon Cancer, Screening Methods, and Prevention," and engaged in a Q and A session on colonoscopy. Additionally, they received free basic health checkups, including blood tests, chest X-rays, and electrocardiograms (ECGs).
