Mukdahan: Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party and prime ministerial candidate, has embarked on a campaign tour across northeastern Thailand, declaring his intention to reclaim Mukdahan as a red zone for the party. Confident in garnering substantial support, he has committed to vigorously campaigning for the party's candidates in the region's constituencies.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chulaphan, along with party executives, held a campaign event in Mukdahan province to support Mr. Nonthapoom Tangpanithanont, the candidate for Constituency 1, and Ms. Piyathida Butrakal, the candidate for Constituency 2. The rallies took place in key locations: Kanchanaphisek Royal Park for Constituency 1 and Ban Namthiang Wan Kru School for Constituency 2. The Pheu Thai Party delegation included prominent figures such as Mr. Anusorn Eiamsa-ard, Mr. Sutin Klangsaeng, Mr. Nannat Hongchuvech, and Ms. Monporn Charoensri.
Mr. Nonthapoom Tangpanithanont, campaigning for a parliamentary seat in Constituency 1, emphasized his ongoing efforts to resolve land ownership issues and advance the economic road project connecting Mukdahan and Nakhon Phanom. He also highlighted his advocacy for establishing Mukdahan University to create educational and employment opportunities locally.
Mr. Chulaphan noted that Mukdahan was once a stronghold for the Pheu Thai Party, but the last election saw a change in fortunes, leaving the province without Pheu Thai representation. Despite this, the party's candidates have maintained a presence in the area, engaging with the community and addressing their concerns.
Anusorn Eiamsa-ard, a party executive committee member, expressed confidence in regaining Mukdahan, attributing the previous election results to specific political trends. He noted that many residents are eager to support the Pheu Thai Party, driven by a desire to see their candidates back in parliament. Anusorn emphasized the party's commitment to holding significant rallies and promoting tangible policies, which, combined with the popularity of their prime ministerial candidate, Prof. Dr. Yoschanan Wongsawat, boosts their chances of reclaiming the region.
