Customs Department Awaits Police Investigation on Car Fire Incident


Mae Sot: Customs Department waiting for police to examine evidence of a fire that damaged 180 vehicles at Mae Sot Customs Checkpoint. Mr. Thirach Attanavanich, Director-General of the Customs Department, revealed that from the fire incident of confiscated vehicles at the Mae Sot Customs Checkpoint, Tak Province, which is used as a storage area for vehicles left over from border crossings and transshipments that became state property, 180 vehicles out of a total of 820 vehicles were damaged. These vehicles are left over from border crossings and transshipments that became state property and are waiting to be auctioned to interested parties.



According to Thai News Agency, after the incident, the Customs Department has increased its surveillance measures to keep cars stranded from the border and transfer the vehicles that have become state property more strictly. The cause of the fire is awaiting the results of the investigation by the forensic officers of Tak Province.
