Chiang mai: The Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration has mandated all border districts to seal their areas to curb drug trafficking, following directives from Interior Minister Bhumtham.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nirat Phongsitthaworn, the Director-General, made this announcement after visiting Chiang Mai Province alongside Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. They discussed the operational policy titled "No Drugs, No Dealers, to Zero Drugs Thailand." The Director-General highlighted the Department's commitment to implementing the government's policy aimed at safeguarding the populace.
Mr. Phongsitthaworn called for nationwide cooperation among local operational units, including border checkpoints, soldiers, border patrol police, provincial police, and local administrative officials. The directive is to expedite efforts to seal borders, preventing drugs from entering the country, in line with government policy to protect citizens' lives. Additionally, individuals struggling with drug addiction will receive treatment in every province. A comprehensive, daily system will be implemented to ensure public safety, as per government policy.
