Disciple Caught on CCTV Stealing Cash from Monk’s Quarters

Khok samrong: A disciple sneaked into the monk's living quarters and stole money. CCTV footage captured the moment Mr. Suthat, 60 years old, the perpetrator, entered the house at 10:14 AM. He tried to pry open the door lock with a hard object but failed. He then used a grinder to cut the padlock before sneaking in and breaking into the refrigerator. He grabbed a large wad of cash, hidden in his shirt and pants, and fled on a yellow Yamaha Mio motorcycle.

According to Thai News Agency, later at 11:00 AM, police at Khok Samrong Police Station received a report that a burglary had occurred at a monk's living quarters inside Wat Tawan Yen, Khok Samrong Subdistrict. The incident took place at the back of the temple, in a single-story row of living quarters. At the first room, Luang Ta Thongsuk, a 94-year-old monk, was waiting for the police. He pointed out the signs of the break-in and explained that he had been performing morning prayers in the temple. Around 10:00 AM, he returned to his room and found the padlock on his door had been cut. Upon checking the water bottle where he had hidden money in the refrigerator, he found the refrigerator door open, the bottle removed, and placed on the floor. He discovered that 55,000 baht of his 100,000 baht cash was missing, leaving only 45,000 baht behind. Fortunately, the burglar didn't take all the money. He immediately called the police.

Initially, police broadcasted alerts to intercept the suspects in nearby areas, but were unable to apprehend them.
