Bangkok: Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO Group) has been selected for inclusion in the 2026 Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJ BIC) in the Electricity Utilities category of the Emerging Markets index. EGCO Group received the highest rating within the group.
According to Thai News Agency, this selection reflects EGCO Group's commitment to sustainable growth in the electricity and related energy business. Mr. Thawatchai Samranvanich, President and CEO of EGCO Group, emphasized that the company is aligning its operations with the energy transition and climate change, contributing to a low-carbon society globally. Sustainability is a guiding principle for EGCO Group's business decisions, aiming to create long-term value for the economy, society, and the environment. The concept of sustainability is integrated comprehensively into the company's processes and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For the 2025 Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) in the Electric Utilities category of the Emerging Markets Index, 30 companies from around the world participated, with only 3 companies being selected for inclusion. EGCO Group's outstanding performance was attributed to its systematic risk management, including preparedness for emerging risks, portfolio management focused on increasing investment in renewable energy and innovative projects, effective environmental management such as energy reduction and air pollution control, and human resource management prioritizing quality of life, flexible working arrangements, and continuous employee development.
S and P Dow Jones Indices has renamed its sustainability and ESG index for 2025 from the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) to the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJ BIC), effective February 10, 2025. The annual index review period has also been adjusted to after the last business day of April to align with S and P Global's global sustainability assessment framework.
Prior to the index renaming, EGCO Group had been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for five consecutive years, from 2020 to 2024.
