Ekniti Leads Thai Delegation at World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos

Davos: Mr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, spearheaded the Thai delegation at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland. The event, themed 'A Spirit of Dialogue,' commenced on January 19, 2026, drawing over 3,000 government leaders, business representatives, and senior executives from more than 130 nations to deliberate on economic issues, technology, sustainability, and geopolitical challenges. Thailand inaugurated its participation with a meeting with Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, aiming to exchange insights on the global economy and explore cooperative opportunities for Thailand's economic growth and job creation.

The Thai delegation also held discussions with representatives from global technology companies to enhance cooperation in the digital economy, AI skills, and cloud development.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is planning a long-term investment of over 150 billion baht in Thailand. Microsoft is collaborating with Thai organizations to advance cloud and AI initiatives. TikTok has set plans for a total investment exceeding 270 billion baht. HCL Technologies is focusing on digital solutions and technological transformation.

These negotiations underscored Thailand's potential as a strategic investment hub in Asia and highlighted opportunities for collaboration in emerging industries such as digital technology, green industries, and workforce skills development to align with global market demands.
