Bangkok: Ekaniti is ready to move forward with the study of the "land bridge" project, updating the previous study results. Ekniti is ready to proceed with the study on the "Land Bridge" project, updating the previous study to reflect geopolitical factors and war impacts on the global economy. The study will assess all-round impacts, including economic, environmental, and community feedback. Results will be known within 90 days, with an emphasis on transparency to ensure the best interests of the Thai people.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, revealed the progress of the Land Bridge project study after Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, appointed him as the chairman of the study committee. He stated that the purpose of this work is to provide clarity to society in the overall economic dimension, as the current global situation is changing significantly, making a comprehensive study necessary.
Mr. Ekanit stated that he was assigned to lead this project because the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), the main agency overseeing economic and social dimensions under its supervision, served as the secretariat of this committee. Mr. Ekanit said that the key objective of this study on the Land Bridge project is to evaluate all aspects, including feasibility and impacts in various dimensions, within a 90-day timeframe.
The new work will not be a fresh start, but rather the committee will update and modernize the findings, incorporating the current global context as additional assumptions. This includes geopolitical issues, such as wartime situations and challenges in cross-strait travel that impact the global economy. Past studies may not have fully and comprehensively considered these factors, including environmental, social, and community satisfaction aspects, given the large scale and importance of the project to the country. 'I affirm that I will perform my duties to the best of my ability as a Thai citizen, adhering to principles of transparency and integrity, to ensure this study yields the greatest benefit for Thailand,' said Mr. Ekniti.
