Bangkok: The Chairman of the Election Commission, Mr. Narong Klanwarin, inaugurated the 16th Advanced Political and Election Development Training Course (APED 16), which aims to enhance the understanding of election processes among participants.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Narong, alongside Election Commissioners Mr. Lertviroj Kowattana, Mr. Anan Suwannarat, and Mr. Narong Rakroi, addressed the 150 attendees, emphasizing the importance of abiding by election regulations and fostering a network that supports the Election Commission's mission. Participants include political party personnel, politicians, government executives, media representatives, and private sector leaders.
Mr. Narong highlighted the necessity of education on election-related issues, addressing societal concerns about potential access to confidential information by political participants. He assured adherence to regulations and stressed the creation of a support network between current and past trainees to aid the Commission's work. This network will help participants gain a comprehensive understanding of election laws and the functioning of political parties, contributing to lawful political practices.
The course also provides a platform for dialogue and idea exchange, fostering relationships among participants with differing political views. This interaction aims to enhance understanding of the electoral process, viewed as a foundation for legitimate power and political stability, leading to fair and participatory politics recognized domestically and internationally.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Dechpol Kosnan, Director of the Institute of Political Party and Election Studies, previously outlined the program's goal to improve political knowledge and practice among parties and politicians. The training aspires to instill ethical political conduct, elevate the quality of elections, and transform political parties into entities focused on serving the people.
