Bangkok: The Election Commission is urgently checking the video of "Jaturon and the Mon Thong team." Srisuwan is making a strong complaint, pointing out that it constitutes deceiving the public and using political figures. The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) is still investigating whether a video clip featuring Chaturon Chaisang, a Pheu Thai Party candidate for the party-list MP position, in which he led a football team from Mon Thong Wittaya School appeared in content supporting constitutional amendments, violates the referendum law.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, stated that they have not yet received any official reports or complaints. They must consider the facts according to the law, including intent, deception, or improper inducement. He emphasized that expressing opinions is a general right of the people, but if there is coercion, deception, or staging, an investigation must be initiated before any conclusions can be drawn.
Meanwhile, Srisuwan Janya has filed a complaint with the Election Commission, asserting that using schoolchildren who are ineligible to vote in political content falls under the category of violating the referendum law and may also violate the Child Protection Act for exploiting children. Even though the clip has been removed, the offense is considered complete.
The coach of the Mon Thong Witthaya school team clarified that they were unaware of the political content being created and that the children are not affiliated with any political party. They also noted that the children's reputation might be used for political gain.
However, the Election Commission is preparing to carefully consider the complaint in order to determine whether such behavior constitutes fraud or a violation of election and referendum laws.
