Mukdahan: A Facebook post falsely claiming a child abduction in Ban Non Sa-at, Mukdahan Province, has caused widespread panic among villagers. The post, which was shared nearly 300 times, prompted fear and confusion in the area, with some parents opting to keep their children at home.
According to Thai News Agency, the village headman, Mr. Ritthirong Suphon, confirmed that the post was untrue. He stated that the misinformation led to villagers becoming suspicious and fearful, with some avoiding sending their children to school. Mr. Suphon, alongside local government officials, has worked to inform residents that the alleged incident did not occur.
Mr. Suphon urged the person responsible for the post to cease such behavior, as it negatively impacts the community. He also advised social media users to verify information before sharing to avoid causing unnecessary alarm.
In response to the backlash, the original poster has since removed the misleading message.
