Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has reported that temperatures in the Northeast, Central, and Upper Eastern regions of Thailand are expected to drop slightly, accompanied by strong winds.
According to Thai News Agency, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates that a high-pressure area or moderate cold air mass is currently covering the northeastern region of Thailand and the South China Sea. This phenomenon will result in cool to cold weather in the northern and northeastern regions, while the central, eastern, and southern regions will experience cool morning temperatures. Mountaintop areas will have cold to very cold conditions. Residents in these areas are advised to take health precautions due to the changing weather and exercise caution regarding fire hazards due to dry conditions.
For the southern parts of Thailand, a moderate northeast monsoon is affecting the lower Gulf and will bring some rain. In the upper Gulf, waves are expected to reach about 1 meter high, increasing to 1-2 meters in areas with thunderstorms. The lower Gulf will also experience waves between 1-2 meters, with waves higher than 2 meters in stormy areas. Sailors in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are advised to be vigilant and avoid areas experiencing thunderstorms.
Dust and smog accumulation remains moderate to quite high across Thailand, with conditions expected to persist due to moderate wind activity. The regional weather forecast for February 5, 2025, outlines specific conditions for various areas. Bangkok and its surroundings will be mostly cloudy, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 22-24 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 31-34 degrees Celsius, accompanied by easterly winds at 10-20 km/hr.
In the northern region, cool to cold weather with morning fog is anticipated, with temperatures ranging from 13-21 degrees Celsius to 31-35 degrees Celsius. Winds from Surat Thani upwards will be northeasterly at 15-30 km/hr, with waves approximately 1 meter high, increasing to 1-2 meters in thunderstorm areas. From Nakhon Si Thammarat downwards, winds will be northeasterly at 15-35 km/hr, with waves ranging from 1-2 meters, rising above 2 meters in stormy areas.
