Female Sales Representative Arrested for Embezzling Company Money While Preparing to Flee

Bangkok: A special operations unit of the Central Investigation Bureau has apprehended Ms. Namphueng, also known as "Oi," aged 40, who was wanted on an arrest warrant issued by the Thanyaburi Provincial Court. She was charged with embezzling more than 120,000 baht from her employer, a plastic packaging company. The arrest was made in front of Rangsit train station while she was attempting to escape to northern Thailand.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Namphueng exploited her position as a sales representative by engaging with sales contacts and collecting payments on behalf of the company. In mid-2022, she orchestrated a transaction with a major client for 120,000 baht but failed to deposit the money into the company's account. It was later revealed that her criminal record dates back to 1968 when she committed theft and embezzlement, resulting in damages exceeding ten thousand baht. Authorities suspect that there may be additional victims who fell prey to her deceitful practices due to her manipulation of their trust.
