Pattaya: A video capturing a foreign tourist slapping a Bolt driver on the head on Walking Street in Pattaya has gained widespread attention online. The incident, which occurred around 11 PM on May 12th, has drawn sharp criticism from netizens who have condemned the tourist's actions and lauded the Thai individuals involved for their patience and efforts to avoid conflict.
According to Thai News Agency, the video features a confrontation between foreign tourists and a group associated with Bolt, a passenger van service. The footage includes a text stating, "Foreigners picking fights with Thais again. These kinds of people deserve it. They tried not to cause trouble, but they still went looking for it. They deserved it. I love Muay Thai." The video quickly went viral, attracting numerous comments and shares across social media platforms.
Mr. Kritsada, a 27-year-old delivery rider who recorded the incident, provided further details during an interview. He explained that the altercation began when the Thai party was attempting to park their vehicle, and the foreign tourist initiated provocation. Although there was uncertainty about any verbal exchanges, it was clear that the Thai party initially avoided confrontation. It was only after the foreign tourist returned and slapped a member of the Thai group on the head that the situation escalated into a scuffle. The release of the video has led to widespread disapproval of the foreign tourist's behavior while highlighting the commendable restraint displayed by the Thai individuals involved.
