Nakhon sawan: Police from Phaisali Police Station investigated an incident in which a 64-year-old former police officer fatally shot his 38-year-old son at their home in Nakhon Sawan province. The son was found dead in a storage room behind the house with seven gunshot wounds to his torso and arms. A short knife was still clutched in his right hand. Eight spent 9mm shell casings were found in the room. The shooter, the retired police officer and son's father, did not flee and called the police. He confessed that his son, a drug addict who had been arrested several times, had attempted to harm his family with a knife and tried to grab his father's gun, so he fatally shot his son.
According to Thai News Agency, the father stated that his actions were in self-defense and that he had no choice but to protect himself and his family. The incident has shocked the local community, with neighbors expressing their disbelief over the tragic outcome. Authorities are continuing their investigation, but initial findings suggest that the father acted in response to a direct threat to his life and the lives of his family members.
