Government Assures Smooth Registration for ‘Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40’ Amid Minor Technical Issues

Bangkok: The government clarifies that "facial scan failure" is unrelated to the registration process and advises users to verify their identity via ATM.

According to Thai News Agency, the government expressed satisfaction with the registration process for the "Thai Chuay Thai Plus 60/40" program, noting that it proceeded without major disruptions. Minor system issues were observed, but these did not affect the overall stability of the registration process. The government explained that the "facial scan failure" encountered by some users was unrelated to the benefits claim process, attributing it instead to the initial use of the application or to users who had previously deleted it. To address this, officials recommend that users verify their identity through an ATM.

Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, highlighted that the registration system for the "Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40" project has been functioning smoothly, with no crashes reported. The system has been deemed more stable compared to prior rounds of registration, with only minor delays noted during the initial phase starting at 6:00 AM. Krung Thai Bank addressed these issues by upgrading the system's capacity to handle over 700,000 transactions per second, a significant increase from the previous 300,000 transactions per second capacity.

Ms. Ploytalee further clarified that the "facial scan failure" issue arises when users activate the Paotang app for the first time or after reinstalling it. To resolve this, users are required to verify their identity via the e-KYC system available at Krung Thai Bank's gray ATM machines or branches nationwide. For registrants with a "Waiting for registration results" status, notifications will be sent through the Paotang app or via SMS within three days. This group comprises individuals who are new registrants for the Thai Chuay Thai Plus program and require additional time for eligibility verification.

Starting June 1st, the "Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40" program will commence, with the government contributing 60% of a 1,000 baht monthly allowance. Participants must contribute the remaining 40%, amounting to 667 baht per month. The government stipulates that the allowance must be utilized monthly, with any unused funds forfeited. Over the four-month duration of the project, participants will need to top up a total of 2,667 baht to receive the full 6,667 baht allowance, as stated by Ms. Ploytalee.
