House Speaker Urged to Include No-Confidence Motion Against Prime Minister

Bangkok: Mr. Nattaphong Ruangpanyawut, the opposition leader and head of the Prachachon Party, has confirmed his stance on maintaining the content and language of the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra. He plans to submit a letter of objection to Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, the President of the House of Representatives, either today or tomorrow, challenging the proposed amendments to the motion.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nattapong emphasized that the motion should not be altered to remove Mr. Thaksin’s name, asserting that the inclusion does not expose the Speaker of the House to legal risks. He believes that the Speaker should fulfill his legislative duties by incorporating the motion into the agenda for debate.

Mr. Nattapong stated that if the House Speaker fails to include the motion, the opposition will follow due procedures, suspecting misuse of authority by the Speaker. He remains hopeful that the Speaker will ultimately decide to include the motion and plans to submit a letter of objection as a preliminary step.

The opposition leader has not guaranteed the inclusion of the no-confidence motion in the current session’s agenda. He mentioned that if an objection is raised and no mutual resolution is achieved, a middle path will be considered. Discussions will then take place to determine the appropriate course of action.
