Bangkok: The Human Rights Commission welcomed the end of the war in the Gaza Strip and hoped a ceasefire agreement would lead to a sustainable peace process based on human rights principles. They hoped for a peaceful atmosphere and expanded negotiations to the conflict zone between Thailand and Cambodia.
According to Thai News Agency, the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand has issued a statement welcoming the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which aims to end the war in the Gaza Strip and lead to the release of Israeli and Palestinian detainees. This is a significant development in resolving the more than two-year conflict and a sign of hope for an end to violence, loss, and suffering among people in the Middle East.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) hopes that this ceasefire agreement will lead to a lasting peace process based on human rights, justice, and international humanitarian principles, along with providing relief and rehabilitation for the social, economic, and psychological well-being of affected people. The NHRC urges all parties to cease all forms of violence, strictly respect the ceasefire agreement, and refrain from taking any action that could lead to further conflict or human rights violations in the future. This is to ensure that all people can live safely and coexist peacefully.
Meanwhile, the NHRC sincerely hopes that the atmosphere of peace and tranquility, and the negotiations to end the conflict in the Middle East, will extend to other areas still facing conflict, including the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border. The NHRC believes that the government will take appropriate action, in accordance with the Constitution, relevant domestic laws, and international agreements to which Thailand is a party, to address and resolve the issue swiftly, with the primary consideration being the well-being of the people and the national interest.
