Tehran: Iranian state media confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was killed following a massive airstrike carried out by the United States and Israel. The airstrike, described as the largest in decades, occurred yesterday. Khamenei's death marks a significant moment in the region's tense geopolitical landscape.
According to Thai News Agency, the attack also claimed the lives of Khamenei's close relatives, including his daughter, granddaughter, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law. US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that intelligence and surveillance efforts successfully pinpointed the Supreme Leader's location, leading to the targeted strike that killed him and several other key leaders.
Israeli officials confirmed that the Supreme Leader's body was discovered in the aftermath of the airstrike. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Khamenei's position was effectively neutralized. Among those reported killed were Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpoor, leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Israeli military also confirmed the deaths of five additional military commanders, including Ali Shamkhani, an advisor to the Supreme Leader.
