Tokyo: Japan's largest airline, ANA Holdings, announced the cancellation of 65 flights on Saturday following Airbus' recall of certain A320 aircraft. This action has led to the grounding of a portion of ANA's fleet.
According to Thai News Agency, ANA Holdings, along with its subsidiary Peach Aviation, is the leading operator of narrow-body Airbus aircraft in Japan, specifically the A320 model. The recall has not affected ANA's main competitor, Japan Airlines, which primarily operates Boeing aircraft and does not utilize the A320.
The recall impacts over half of Airbus' global A320 Family aircraft fleet, which plays a crucial role in short-haul flights across Asia, with significant operations in China and India. Globally, there are approximately 11,300 A320 Family aircraft in service, including 6,440 of the core A320 variant. The necessary fixes, which mostly involve reverting to previous software versions, are straightforward but must be completed before the aircraft can resume operations.
