Kantharalak: Kantharalak District Prison in Sisaket Province is swiftly transferring 92 inmates from a high-risk area following a recent border clash. At 11:30 a.m. on December 8th, the Department of Corrections, through its Public Relations Division, reported that clashes have been occurring since December 7th, 2015, in the Phu Pha Lek - Phlan Hin Paet Kon area of Kantharalak District, and most recently in the Chong An Ma area of Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. In response, Kantharalak District Prison has relocated all inmates to ensure their safety.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Naphat Lakham, the Prison Commander, has been closely following updates from provincial authorities and has directed officials to move 92 inmates to secure locations. This includes six female inmates and four male detainees who have been taken to Sisaket Provincial Prison, while the remaining 82 inmates have been relocated to Rattanaburi District Prison in Surin Province. The evacuation process was completed by December 7th. Prison officials are maintaining vigilance over the border situation, and any new security directives from provincial authorities will prompt further relocations as deemed necessary by the Prison Commander.
