Bangkok: "Suchart" has urgently directed the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to mobilize national park personnel to assist in the evacuation of citizens and safeguard property along the Thai-Cambodian border. Ms. Lalida Periswiwattana, Deputy Government Spokesperson, disclosed that Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, has immediately commissioned the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, along with related agencies, to deploy personnel, equipment, and vehicles for the evacuation and support of people impacted in the border region.
According to Thai News Agency, the directive followed reports of unrest and evacuation advisories in high-risk zones. National parks and wildlife sanctuaries along the border have been tasked with relocating individuals to shelters and secure areas, as well as setting up temporary accommodations for residents and officials.
The Deputy Spokesperson mentioned that the Deputy Prime Minister has also called for collaboration with administrative and security sectors to oversee the homes and possessions of those evacuated, ensuring safety and reducing public distress during emergencies. Local agencies, known for their expertise in terrain and forest routes, are actively coordinating and aiding security operations to enhance efficiency in assisting the public.
In the latest developments, officials from the Phnom Dong Rak Wildlife Sanctuary have been relocating bedridden patients and disabled individuals from vulnerable villages to safe shelters since the evening of December 7th, and preparations to address the evolving situation continue.
The government maintains that the lives, safety, and dignity of its citizens are of utmost importance and pledges to remain vigilant and supportive throughout the crisis.
