King Bestows New Name on Royal Thai Air Force Hospital

Bangkok: His Majesty the King has graciously bestowed the name 'Thotsamindrathiraj Hospital' on the Royal Thai Air Force Hospital (Sikhan), linking it to 'Phumibol Adulyadej Hospital'.

According to Thai News Agency, reporters conveyed that on May 14, 2015, a letter from the Royal Palace was sent to Air Chief Marshal Panphakdi Pattanakul, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force. The letter referenced a request from the Royal Thai Air Force for a new name for the Royal Thai Air Force Hospital (Sikan) in Bangkok's Department of Medical Services. The renaming honors His Majesty the King's intention to care for the people's health and bring good fortune.

The Air Force Hospital, which cost 950 million baht to construct, provides services to Air Force personnel, their families, and the general public in Bangkok. It is linked to Bhumibol Hospital, the Air Force's main hospital. Since its opening in 2019, the hospital has served 660,915 patients, honoring His Majesty's royal intention to ensure the health of the people and bring good fortune.

His Majesty has bestowed the new name 'Thotsamindrathiraj Hospital', pronounced 'Rong-Pha-Ya-Ban-Tha-Sa-Min-Tra-Ti-Rat'. This name signifies a hospital built to honor His Majesty the King, the great King (Rama X).
