Bangkok: Korn, Nene, and Sakoltee have teamed up to restructure the power of the new generation by launching more than 10 youth projects aimed at continuing the legacy of the "Youth Democrat Party" and aspiring to become a model political institution.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Korn Chatikavanij, along with Mrs. Radklao Intawong Suwannakiri and Mr. Sakoltee Phatthiyakul, deputy party leaders, have initiated a strategy to fully empower the younger generation within the party. This initiative seeks to continue the legacy of the "Youth Democrat" era by being a breeding ground for quality politicians and citizens. The Youth Engagement Programmes Pitching Day was launched as a part of this strategy, a six-hour event where over 10 innovative project ideas were considered and selected, aiming to establish the party as a model political institution for Thailand.
Ms. Radklao highlighted that sustainable national development hinges on building "constructive democracy" through concrete youth participation. She emphasized that the presentation of projects on April 3rd revealed several projects with immediate implementation potential, such as the "Financial Literacy" project aimed at strengthening the financial and cybersecurity immunity of the younger generation.
Other notable projects include the "108 Careers, Study Your Favorite Subjects, for the Right Future Career" project, which focuses on career guidance and educational planning, and the 'SMART and GREEN ENERGY CITY' project, empowering vocational students to contribute to clean energy technologies for smart cities. The 'Blue Canvas' project facilitates self-expression through graffiti art, reflecting the identity and ideas of the new generation.
The initiative provides a platform for over 30 former candidates and young party members to collaboratively brainstorm and design systematically under the vision of "Young People, for Young People." It offers youth the opportunity to experience and learn about constructive politics through real-world experiences.
Mr. Sakoltee mentioned that this initiative modernizes the legacy of the "Youth Democrat Party," making it more accessible and suited to the needs of the younger generation. The primary aim is to create "quality citizens" who are aware of their societal roles and responsibilities, while giving youth a real space to participate in national development.
Mr. Korn concluded that the activities aim to establish a 'political ecosystem' that continuously provides youth opportunities to experiment, learn, and develop their potential. He believes political parties should function as open institutions, offering safe spaces for learning and serving as bridges connecting the dreams of youth to public policy formation.
The 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democrat Party on April 6th underscores its long-standing commitment to fostering participation from people of all ages, based on the belief in "joint ownership of the country." More details of each project will be revealed gradually, inviting youth to contribute to sustainable social and national development.
