Large Generator Seizure at Kanchanaburi Border Uncovers Myanmar Call Center Gang Connection

Kanchanaburi: Authorities have seized a large generator at the Kanchanaburi border, uncovering links to a Myanmar call center gang. In a joint operation, the 9th Infantry Division and Surasri Task Force intercepted a smuggling attempt involving large-scale power generators valued at over 10 million baht, intended for export across the Thai-Myanmar border.

According to Thai News Agency, the operation took place at Ban Nam Koek along Highway 323, the Sangkhlaburi-Dan Chedi Sam Ong route, in Moo 8, Nong Lu Subdistrict of Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province. The task force discovered three suspicious trucks at the scene. The first two vehicles were each transporting a large diesel generator along with an electrical control cabinet, while the third vehicle carried three electrical control cabinets. The generators, marked with Chinese characters, were found without proper customs clearance documents, leading to the detention of the drivers and the initiation of an investigation to prosecute the shipping company's owner.

During initial questioning, the detained individuals admitted to being general truck drivers employed by a shipping company. Their task was to transport goods from Lat Ya Subdistrict in Mueang District, Kanchanaburi Province, to customers at the Three Pagodas Pass border crossing. The authorities have charged them under the Customs Act and are in custody for legal proceedings. Concurrently, efforts are underway to expedite the investigation and identify additional members of the criminal network linked to this smuggling operation.
