Marine Corps Engineer Injured by Landmine at Ban Nong Ri

Ban nong ri: A Marine Corps engineer was injured after stepping on a landmine while reinforcing security in Ban Nong Ri. The incident led to the immediate hospitalization of the injured soldier.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at 9:14 AM on December 21, 2025, when the Marine Corps engineer was on a mission to reinforce a fortified position in the Nong Ri area. The incident resulted in injuries to Petty Officer 1st Class Therdphong Phomnara.

The area where the accident happened is a small community with approximately three houses. Initial medical examination determined that Therdphong sustained an injury to his right leg. First aid was provided at the scene, followed by his transfer to a hospital for further treatment.

Authorities have since secured the area and are conducting comprehensive security checks to avert any additional threats, while maintaining close monitoring of the situation.
