MEA Deploys Over 500 Officers to Ensure Electrical Stability for 2026 Election

Bangkok: MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority) has deployed over 500 officers to closely monitor the electrical system for the 2026 election, ensuring it remains on standby until the vote counting is complete. MEA, or the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, will be deployed at full capacity on Election Day, February 8, 2026, with a special task force of over 500 personnel fanned out to ensure the security of the power system across 49 polling districts in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan. A command center will also be open to closely monitor the situation and support the national election campaign to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted process.

According to Thai News Agency, MEA has elevated its operations to the highest level, mobilizing over 500 expert officers to inspect and monitor the electricity distribution system at critical points 24 hours a day. This is especially crucial in its three responsible provinces: Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan, covering all 49 constituencies and over 9,889 polling stations, to ensure the voting and vote counting process proceeds smoothly.

In addition to deploying personnel to the field, MEA has also opened the "Metropolitan Electricity Authority's Electricity System Control Operations Center for the Election of Members of Parliament and Referendum" to serve as a central hub for integrating information and issuing real-time command. A redundancy system has been installed, and mobile generators are stationed at strategically important locations such as Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha), Nonthaburi Provincial Hall, and the Samut Prakan Provincial Election Commission office, as well as vote counting reporting points throughout the area.

MEA prioritizes energy stability today. Operational teams are coordinating closely with relevant agencies to check the readiness of electrical equipment both inside and outside polling stations, ensuring preparedness for emergencies. This supports government operations and transparency in reporting election results, fulfilling the public's trust in this crucial mission.
