Voter Turnout Surges Outside MRT Zone During Referendum

Bangkok: Voting in the referendum outside the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit Authority) zone was lively, with a significant turnout observed on Rama IX Road. Officials managed the process systematically, ensuring an efficient voting experience for all participants.

According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere at the absentee referendum polling station in Huai Khwang district, located in front of the MRT multipurpose building on Rama IX Road, was characterized by the active participation of young adults and working professionals with registered addresses in other provinces. Many voters expressed their commitment to participating in the referendum, hoping for positive change. Although they had already voted in advance, they emphasized the importance of each vote contributing to a collective impact. Some voters noted a desire for advance and absentee voting to occur on the same day to reduce travel requirements, yet they remained determined to cast their votes.

The voting process was facilitated by systematic operations. Voters were able to scan a QR code to quickly verify their name, sequence number, and batch number according to their provincial household registration, minimizing wait times. This efficient system was well-received by those participating in the referendum.

Additionally, collaborative efforts by the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), and the Huai Khwang District Office provided free shuttle services. Buses and vans transported voters from the Huai Khwang District Office and the MRT station to the plaza in front of the MRTA multipurpose building, operating from morning until the polls closed at 5:00 PM.
