Bangkok: The conflict in the Middle East has significantly disrupted air travel, impacting more than 500 Thai flights, with Suvarnabhumi Airport bearing the brunt of the situation. Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (AROT) is actively monitoring and evaluating airspace conditions around the clock in response to the crisis.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surachai Nuphrom, Deputy Managing Director and Acting Managing Director of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co., Ltd., shared that the escalating tensions in the Middle East have led to several countries closing or restricting their airspace. This situation has forced international flights to alter their routes and schedules, affecting over 500 Thai flights between February 28 and March 5, 2026. Furthermore, 23 aircraft have been grounded due to these disruptions. Suvarnabhumi Airport has been the most impacted by these developments.
As the air navigation service provider, Aeronautical Radio has been managing air traffic at full capacity. They have been closely coordinating with international air traffic control centers and have implemented measures to manage air traffic flow effectively. These measures include adjusting flight routes, prioritizing flights, and optimizing aircraft parking spaces. The objective is to minimize the impact on air travel, maintain safety standards, and ensure stability in Thai airspace during this volatile period.
