Minister Sabida Welcomes UNESCO Director-General to Boost Cultural Heritage Cooperation

Bangkok: Minister Sabida welcomed the Director-General of UNESCO on an official visit to Thailand to strengthen cooperation in cultural heritage. The visit included a tour of the National Museum, Bangkok, and a viewing of valuable artifacts from various cultural heritage sites in Thailand, such as the Ban Chiang archaeological site and the Si Thep Historical Park.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sabida Thaiseth, Minister of Culture, and the Ministry of Culture's executives welcomed His Excellency Mr. Khaled Ahmed El-Enany Ali Ezz, Director-General of UNESCO, and his delegation during their meeting and courtesy visit to the National Museum Bangkok on May 16, 2026.

The Minister of Culture, along with Mr. Prasop Riangngern, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Mrs. Yutika Isarangkun Na Ayutthaya, Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion, Mr. Tosaporn Srisaman, Deputy Director-General of the Fine Arts Department, and other executives from the Ministry of Culture, led the Director-General of UNESCO on a tour of the National Museum Bangkok. The tour began at the Mahasurasinhanat Building, which displays artifacts from World Heritage sites such as the Ban Chiang archaeological site and the Si Thep Historical Park, as well as important artifacts returned from abroad.

They then visited the Royal Chariot Museum, which reflects Thai beliefs, art, and royal traditions. On this occasion, the Director-General of UNESCO shared experiences regarding museum management and the display of artifacts within the exhibition area, as well as approaches to creating value and developing the capabilities of museum personnel, both in academic aspects and in linking to promoting heritage tourism.
