Ministries Intervene to Revoke License of Teacher Involved in Sexual Abuse Case

Lopburi: The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security have taken decisive action to revoke the teaching license of a teacher involved in a sexual abuse case. The ministries have set a two-week deadline for the school to provide fair compensation to the victim.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Akranan Kankittinant, Deputy Minister of Education, and Mr. Chanin Rungthanakiat, Advisor to the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, visited Lopburi Province to monitor safety measures in educational institutions. They provided an update on the case of a former private school teacher who sexually abused students in 2024. Relatives of the victims participated in the discussions and were informed of the progress made.

The Deputy Minister of Education stated that the Ministry of Education has been closely monitoring this case. The perpetrator is currently serving a prison sentence of approximately 36 years. The Ministry of Education emphasizes the importance of psychological support and rehabilitation for the victims, stressing that schools must support their students. Three measures have been implemented to expedite assistance and prevent recurrence:

1. The teaching license will be revoked for life, ensuring the perpetrator can never work as a teacher again. Coordination with the Teachers Council is underway to facilitate this action.

2. The Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC) has been instructed to issue a warning letter to the school involved, requiring the implementation of adequate measures to care for and compensate the affected child victims. More decisive actions, such as suspending the license or closing the school, are being considered if necessary.

3. A conclusion on compensation measures for the victim's family must be reached within two weeks. This will be done through the school's administrative committee, taking into account fairness and human dignity.

Mr. Chanin stated that the Ministry of Social Development and Human Resources (MSDHR) has dispatched a team of social workers and psychologists to monitor the mental health of the victim and her family. The aim is to heal their emotional wounds and help them regain strength quickly. The MSDHR is ready to collaborate with the Ministry of Education and multidisciplinary teams to enhance child protection measures and create a concrete mechanism for monitoring safety in educational institutions.

The victim's family has suffered significantly, and authorities are working to ensure justice and care. The Ministry of Education is committed to supporting the victims and instructing all schools to implement strict safety measures for student welfare.
