Ministry of Foreign Affairs Takes Action to Aid Thai Citizens in Middle East

Bangkok: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs convened a crucial meeting to expedite support for Thai citizens in the Middle East amid escalating tensions in the region. Prime Minister Sihasak led a video conference with ambassadors and consuls general to assess the situation and strategize assistance for Thai nationals.

According to Thai News Agency, the conference, which took place at 4:00 PM, was attended by Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside ministry executives and representatives from Thai embassies and consulates in the Middle East. The meeting focused on the tense situation in the region and the necessary measures to aid Thai citizens. Mr. Sihasak expressed concern over the situation's persistence and its spread to other countries. He stressed the importance of vigilant monitoring and shared his analysis, highlighting the United States' prioritization of certain aspects over resources. Following the discussions, Mr. Panidol Patchimsawat, Acting Director-General of the Department of Information and Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is set to hold a press conference to disclose the meeting's outcomes.

In response to the developments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning to Thai citizens in affected areas, particularly in Iran and Israel, advising them to evacuate. A War Room has been established to monitor and evaluate the situation in collaboration with various agencies, including Thai embassies in the region. Thai embassies have prepared necessary assistance, including evacuation plans if required. The Department of Consular Affairs has also set up a 24-hour center to provide urgent assistance through its Call Center at 0 2572 8442.

Coordination efforts will be made with relevant embassies in Thailand to ensure the protection of Thai citizens in the area. Additionally, collaboration with Thai associations in different countries will help keep abreast of each location's situation and provide necessary support.
