Ministry of Interior Hosts Workshop to Promote Thai Textiles Internationally

Bangkok: The Ministry of Interior organized a coaching workshop aimed at sustainably elevating Thai textiles to an international level. The event, held at ICONSIAM, was part of the "Make Thai Silk Fun" initiative championed by His Majesty and led by Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Mrs. Jinnaratch Sampanrat, President of the Ministry of Interior Wives' Association.

According to Thai News Agency, the workshop titled "Project to Raise Awareness and Disseminate the Royal Initiative on Upgrading Thai Textile and Handicraft Heritage" was inaugurated by Mr. Sampanrat and attended by over 300 participants, including executives, government officials, entrepreneurs, and youth. The meeting room at ICONSIAM in Khlong San District served as the venue for this significant event.

The workshop showcased various royal initiatives related to the development of Thai textiles and handicrafts. Displays included royal textile designs from 2026, such as the "Royal Pattern of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn" and the "Royal Flower Pattern of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit." Participants were treated to an exhibition of works by entrepreneurs who have embraced the royal initiative "Wearing Thai Textiles for Fun" and the concept of Sustainable Fashion to create contemporary products. Expert coaching sessions covered topics like brand building, design trends, packaging development, environmentally friendly natural fiber and dyeing (BCG), and online marketing strategies. These sessions aimed at empowering entrepreneurs and youth to compete effectively in the market.

The Permanent Secretary underscored that this project, now in its fourth year, is designed to develop the capabilities of Thai entrepreneurs comprehensively, from upstream to downstream. It also encourages the younger generation to leverage local wisdom for the international market, create products that meet modern consumer needs, and increase economic value.

Initiatives led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari have been crucial in preserving and modernizing Thai textiles and handicrafts, promoting self-reliance and sustainability. These efforts have received international recognition, including commendation from UNESCO.

The Permanent Secretary also highlighted the importance of provincial governors and district officers in implementing royal initiatives in their areas. This approach aims to create jobs, generate income, and sustainably improve the quality of life for the people, ultimately leading to long-term stability and prosperity for the country.
