Bangkok: MP Kritsada Chivathamanon of the Prachachon Party, representing Chonburi District 6, has found herself at the center of political turmoil following her request to be expelled from her party. During a press conference, she detailed her reasons, citing a lack of support and ideological differences as key factors.
According to Thai News Agency, Kritsada explained her longstanding struggles within the Prachachon Party, emphasizing her desire to focus on serving the people rather than merely building party popularity. She expressed her disappointment over the party's focus on trends rather than addressing the needs of the public. Kritsada revealed that she had communicated her grievances to the party back in April, but chose to announce publicly after May 11 to avoid influencing the municipal elections.
During the press conference, tensions escalated as members of the Prachachon Party's file club, known as Dom Som, disrupted proceedings by shouting accusations and curses at Kritsada. They challenged her to resign and questioned her integrity, labeling her a "cobra" for her perceived betrayal of the party.
Kritsada defended her decision not to resign, citing concerns about the financial burden of holding a new election. She reiterated her commitment to serving her constituents and highlighted her efforts to address local issues, such as the water supply problem on Sichang Island. Despite facing criticism and isolation from her peers within the party, she maintained her focus on the welfare of her constituents.
Amidst the chaos, Kritsada also addressed rumors about her association with the Kla Tham Party, explaining that she had received support from Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, in resolving local issues. She emphasized her dedication to finding a party that aligns with her mission to help the people.
The press conference concluded with heightened tensions as Dom Som members continued to confront Kritsada, questioning her motives and loyalty. Police officers intervened to maintain order, but the heated exchanges underscored the contentious nature of the situation.
Kritsada's departure from the press conference prompted further outcry from the orange fan club, who accused her of betraying her constituents and wasting public funds. Despite the criticism, Kritsada remained resolute in her decision to leave the Prachachon Party, signaling a potential shift in her political alignment as she seeks to continue her work for the people of Sriracha.
