Bangkok: Members of Parliament convened for an important parliamentary session to prepare for the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the House of Representatives.
According to Thai News Agency, the parliamentary lobby was bustling with MPs arriving since around 8:00 AM. Notable figures in attendance included Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, Mr. Suriya Jungrungruangkit, Ms. Sudawan Wangsupakitkosol, and Mr. Chaturon Chaisang from the Pheu Thai Party, as well as Mr. Chada Thaiseth from the Bhumjaithai Party, and Mr. Atthakorn Sirilatthayakon from the Kla Tham Party. The primary focus of the session is the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers, with Mr. Pairoj Lohsuntorn already chosen as the interim Speaker of the 27th House of Representatives.
At approximately 8:57 AM, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, arrived accompanied by Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat and Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, both from the Bhumjaithai Party. The group, including Mr. Chada who had arrived earlier, wore coordinated blue Thai-style attire, suggesting a planned party display.
Mr. Sophon Saram from the Bhumjaithai Party is among those considered for the Speaker role. The Bhumjaithai Party plans to nominate Ms. Mallika Chiraphanwanich for First Deputy Speaker, while the Pheu Thai Party suggests Mr. Lertsak Pattanachaikul for Second Deputy Speaker. Additionally, the People's Party is expected to propose candidates for both positions, though their names have not been disclosed yet.
