Myanmar Refugees Return Home as Fighting Subsides

Bangkok: 510 Myanmar refugees have returned to their hometowns after a period of unrest, as reported by local authorities. Col. Natthakorn Ruenthip, Commander of the Rajamanu Special Task Force, in collaboration with Commander of Task Force 35 and the administration of Tha Song Yang District, facilitated the return of these refugees. Assistance was provided by officers from Tha Song Yang Police Station, Task Force 34, Mae La Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and other relevant government agencies.

According to Thai News Agency, the decision to return was made voluntarily by the refugees as the fighting situation in the opposite area has calmed down and is now considered safe. Thai officials played a significant role in ensuring the safe and organized transportation of the refugees by providing necessary vehicles and boats for their journey. The refugees were assisted in crossing the Mae Ok Pha Ru and Mae La Thai areas, located in Mae La Subdistrict, Tha Song Yang District.

The operation was successfully completed with all 510 refugees safely returning to their hometowns. This marks the end of the presence of Burmese refugees in Tak Province, as no refugees remain in the area following the recent return operation.
