Bangkok: Vietnamese media analysis highlights Thailand's strict control over durian exports, leading to acceptance by Chinese customs. Deputy government spokesperson expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and Narumon for their efforts in resolving issues for durian farmers and entrepreneurs, resulting in success.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anukul Prueksanusak, Deputy Government Spokesperson, referenced an analysis by Vietnam's VnExpress International. The analysis credited Thailand's stringent quality measures for the acceptance of Thai durians by China, in contrast to the challenges faced by Vietnamese durian exports. He noted that the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has enforced strict quality controls on durian exports. This aligns with the policy of Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, who has been consistently concerned about this issue. Consequently, Thailand has successfully exported 287 million US dollars, or approximately 9.7 billion baht, worth of durian to China over the past four months.
Mr. Anukul further explained that Mrs. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, has emphasized the "4 No" policy: no immature fruits, no pests, no fakes, and no dyes or substances, which aligns with China's standards on prohibited substances. The BY2 testing laboratory has coordinated with the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) to certify exports and expedite the inspection process during Thailand's harvest season.
In February, the Thai Prime Minister and Ms. Narumon visited China to explore ways to promote durian exports, receiving certification and support from the Chinese Customs Department. Currently, China has opened a 24-hour export gate to facilitate Thai transportation. The Vietnamese news agency reported that Thailand can export about 500 containers of durian, or 10,000 tons, per day, with minimal rejections due to Thailand's strict quality control. This has earned China's trust, leading to the opening of a special export channel, for which Mr. Anukul expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Agriculture on behalf of durian farmers and entrepreneurs nationwide.
