Natthapong Ruangpanyawut Pledges to Form a People’s Government for Genuine Change

Bangkok: Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, the People's Party's prime ministerial candidate, has announced his commitment to forming a "people's government," promising a significant shift from traditional governance. Speaking at the "Unveiling the People's Government's Vision" event at Samyan Mitrtown Hall, he outlined a transformative agenda designed to address Thailand's longstanding socio-economic challenges.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nattapong emphasized the need for change in the face of Thailand's enduring struggles. He described the country's economy as stagnant, with outdated industries failing and new sectors not emerging, leaving small business owners and large corporations alike in a precarious position. He painted a picture of rising costs and stagnant wages, with rural areas entrenched in debt and environmental issues worsening annually.

Mr. Nattapong criticized the current bureaucratic and justice systems as outdated and corrupt, stating they are insufficient to address modern challenges. He emphasized that the education system fails to equip citizens with necessary skills, wasting resources with ineffective programs. His vision for a people's government is one that dismantles these outdated systems and fosters a collaborative approach across ministries.

Nattapong's proposed government structure includes a central Government House team and a Ministry team, which he claims will break down the siloed nature of traditional governance. This structure aims to enhance coordination and focus on national interests. The Government House team, led by Mr. Nattapong and four deputy prime ministers, will prioritize tasks and oversee ministries to ensure cohesive governance.

The deputy prime ministers, who will not hold simultaneous ministerial roles, are tasked with overseeing various sectors: democracy and security, the economy, quality of life, and public sector reform. This approach is intended to prevent the isolation of responsibilities and promote comprehensive oversight.

Mr. Nattapong called for public support in the upcoming election, urging voters to back the People's Party for both constituency and party-list MPs, as well as in the referendum to draft a new constitution. He asserted that this election represents an opportunity for genuine change, encouraging citizens to participate in building a government that addresses the people's needs and leads Thailand towards a progressive future.
