Bangkok: The criteria for listing individuals and legal entities involved in technology-related crimes are now in effect. The Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) has established these guidelines to disrupt the cycle of cybercrime accounts.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Royal Gazette has published two announcements from the Center for the Prevention and Suppression of Technology Crime (CPTC). These announcements outline the criteria for both announcing and revoking the lists of individuals and legal entities involved in technology-related crimes, effective from March 6, 2026. They were issued under the authority of the Technology Crime Prevention and Suppression Act B.E. 2566 (2023) and its amendments.
The guidelines aim to disrupt the cycle of mule accounts and digital asset wallets used in online fraud or cybercrime. The list will cover bank accounts, e-money accounts, and digital asset wallet numbers. Once announced, financial institutions and related businesses must take immediate measures, such as refusing to open accounts, suspending services, or closing related accounts to reduce illegal activity risk.
If a subsequent investigation reveals non-involvement, the Technology Crime Suppression Center can revoke the individual's or entity's name according to established procedures. Ms. Lalida stated that these guidelines will enhance the effectiveness of preventing and suppressing online crime, particularly digital fraud and the use of fake accounts, ultimately improving the security of financial transactions and public confidence in digital financial services.
