Neymar’s Calf Injury Casts Doubt on 2026 World Cup Participation

Bangkok: Neymar has suffered a calf injury and may be at risk of withdrawing from the 2026 World Cup. Brazilian star Neymar overcame injury and regained his fitness to earn a place in the squad for the 2026 World Cup finals in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. However, just joining the national team camp, he has received bad news as he may have to withdraw due to injury.

According to Thai News Agency, Rodrigo Lasmar, the doctor for the Brazilian men's national soccer team, revealed that Neymar, the team's star player, has suffered a grade two calf injury and is expected to recover and be ready to play in 2-3 weeks.

The current world's most expensive player will miss all of Brazil's warm-up matches for the 2026 World Cup and is highly likely to miss Brazil's first World Cup game against Morocco on June 13th. He is expected to have a chance to play in the second game against Haiti on June 19th. All nations qualifying for the 2026 World Cup can change their squad names until one day before their opening match, which in Brazil's case is June 12th.
