Bangkok: The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) has arrested a renowned singer from the 90s, uncovering a substantial quantity of crystal methamphetamine during the operation. The arrest marks a significant step in a larger investigation aimed at dismantling a network of drug procurement and distribution both domestically and internationally.
According to Thai News Agency, the arrest followed a tip-off from Chinese authorities who detained a Thai individual involved in drug smuggling. This information prompted the ONCB to launch an investigation into online drug trafficking activities. The investigation led to a search of the residence belonging to the lead singer of the well-known 90s pop-rock band, I-zAX, famous for hits like “Pod Jai” and “Dok Mai Kap Hua Jai.” Several kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were discovered on the premises.
Further investigation revealed that the singer was not only using the drugs but also distributing them to other artists in the entertainment industry. The ONCB plans to broaden its investigation to include other celebrities and singers potentially linked to this drug network.
In addition to the crystal methamphetamine, authorities also found various other drugs, including ecstasy, ketamine, and MDMA, along with drug paraphernalia. The ONCB is set to formally announce the results of this operation and continue their efforts to combat drug trafficking involving high-profile individuals.
