Khlong Luang: A warning to those using dating apps: Khlong Luang Police Station arrested a man who tricked a woman into going to a hotel and then stole her motorcycle and fled, along with 14 methamphetamine pills as evidence after meeting through a dating app.
According to Thai News Agency, this incident highlights another form of social danger for those who use dating applications on social media, as scammers may disguise themselves to deceive unsuspecting individuals. Recently, Pol. Col. Athimes Chaiyasaranwich, Superintendent of Khlong Luang Police Station, and investigation officers from Khlong Luang Police Station jointly arrested Mr. Manas or Sam, age 31, along with evidence of 14 methamphetamine pills. The suspect had used a dating application to arrange a meeting with a woman at a hotel for sex, during which he took the opportunity to steal the victim’s motorcycle and escape. He subsequently pawned the motorcycle for 2,000 baht and used the money for a trip.
The chief of Khlong Luang Police Station stated that after the victim filed a complaint, the investigation team tracked down and apprehended the suspect, who was found using drugs and in possession of narcotics. This behavior poses a threat to society. He warned women about the potential dangers of using dating apps. Initially, the police charged him with illegal possession of Category 1 narcotics, methamphetamine, and illegal use of the same.
