Buriram: Motorsport fans are eagerly anticipating the 2026 MotoGP championship. The MotoGP "PT Grand Prix of Thailand 2026" attracted a large number of motorsport fans from around the world. In yesterday's sprint race, Spanish rider Pedro Acosta of the Red Bull KTM Factory team crossed the checkered flag first with a time of 19 minutes 39.155 seconds, securing the victory and 12 points. Marc Marquez, who battled Acosta on lap 12 and went off track, was penalized and finished second, receiving 9 points. Raul Fernandez of the Trackhouse team finished third, receiving 7 points. Marco Bezzecchi crashed and retired from the race.
According to Thai News Agency, after the race, world-class riders participated in a meet-and-greet event, signing autographs, taking photos, and giving away souvenirs to fans. Honda team riders Johann Zarco, Johann Mir, and Luca Marini also attended the event. A large number of motorsport fans from both Thailand and abroad participated.
Dr. Arak Pornprapha, President of Thai Honda Co., Ltd., said that this year's MotoGP has received an excellent response from fans and he hopes that the Honda team's riders will perform well to repay the fans.
Ms. Natthariya Thaweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, presided over the opening ceremony of the Muay Thai promotion and dissemination event, "Muay Thai in the Local Style," at Chang International Circuit. Also present were Mr. Piya Pijanam, Governor of Buriram Province, and Ms. Prodpran Samanmit, Deputy Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) for Professional Sports and Boxing. The event featured Muay Thai competitions to promote the art of Muay Thai and showcase Thailand's soft power, attracting significant interest from foreigners.
Earlier this morning, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul arrived at Chang International Circuit to visit the Thai cultural pavilion, in preparation for presiding over the opening ceremony and awards presentation this evening.
