Bangkok: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has urgently instructed provincial governors to implement three additional measures to address the energy crisis. The measures focus on monitoring, vigilance, and communicating accurate information to build confidence, reduce panic, and prevent actions that could affect the energy distribution system in their regions.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, announced these directives following a meeting of the Center for Monitoring and Managing the Conflict in the Middle East (CMC) on March 15, 2026. The meeting, held at the Parliament building, was chaired by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, who serves as both Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
The Permanent Secretary has instructed all provincial governors to implement the following measures: First, deputy governors are to be assigned the responsibility of overseeing the energy situation in their provinces, working closely with the Provincial Energy Office, Provincial Commerce Office, Provincial Public Relations Office, and other relevant agencies. Second, governors must monitor the fuel distribution situation to ensure normalcy and report any issues to the Ministry of Interior immediately and continuously on a daily basis. Lastly, they are to communicate the energy situation clearly to fuel station operators, distributors, private sector entities, and the public, using district officers, sub-district heads, village heads, public address systems, and provincial public relations channels. The emphasis is on disseminating accurate government information to prevent hoarding and actions that may disrupt the energy distribution system.
