Phuket: Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, has refuted claims about a shadow cabinet, emphasizing that progress is being made in resolving Phuket's problems with tangible results. She denied the existence of a "blue regime," referring to a political faction, and affirmed that efforts to address the issues will continue, all aimed at solving problems for the people.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Laksmisangchan clarified the situation concerning the "Shadow Cabinet," specifically responding to comments made by Mr. Chalermpong Saengdee, a Phuket MP from the People's Party, during a meeting about the transfer of civil servants in Phuket and the Minister of Interior's visit. She acknowledged the deep-rooted and long-standing nature of the problems in Phuket, particularly those involving influential figures. The government, led by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, is committed to effectively resolving these issues, evidenced by the collaborative efforts of all relevant agencies following the Prime Minister's directives.
Recently, the Royal Thai Police's efforts in Phuket led to the discovery of 10 companies acting as nominees and 4 plots of land, valued at approximately 116 million baht. Arrest warrants were issued for 12 foreign nationals, along with 13 other arrest warrants. Additionally, 39 companies with significant foreign ownership were found possessing 52 plots of land, valued at approximately 115 million baht. The court issued 29 search warrants for 56 plots of land, valued at approximately 231 million baht.
The government's commitment to addressing these issues is evident, with both the Prime Minister and the Deputy Minister of Interior making continuous visits to the area to drive solutions. This approach is not a facade, and the government is determined to take strict legal action against any illegal activities, regardless of influence. The transfer of the governor was made to enhance problem-solving for the benefit of the people of Phuket, not to serve any political party.
Ms. Laksmisangchan reiterated that there is no "blue regime," as alleged by the People's Party for political gain. She encouraged anyone with information on bribery or mafia activities to provide it to the government, assuring that legal action will be taken to the fullest extent, with no exemptions from punishment.
