Pattaya: Police arrested the leader of an illegal surrogacy ring, a Chinese national wanted on an arrest warrant from the People's Republic of China, who had been hiding in Thailand.

According to Thai News Agency, the Central Investigation Bureau, the Crime Suppression Division, and the Immigration Bureau raided a hotel in Na Kluea Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, and arrested Mr. Yan, a 43-year-old Chinese national, and Ms. Mi, a 33-year-old Chinese national, on charges of engaging in illegal medical business. Both are involved in an illegal surrogacy ring, have arrest warrants from the People's Republic of China, and had fled to Thailand to hide.

This operation was a collaboration between the Center for Combating Transnational Criminals and Illegal Immigration and the Hangzhou Public Security Bureau of China. The bureau issued an arrest warrant for the two individuals in early June. On July 2nd, Thai police received information from Chinese authorities that the two had illegally entered Thailand. Joint forces successfully apprehended them. Their permits to stay in the Kingdom were revoked, and they were subsequently handed over to the Immigration Bureau for deportation to the People's Republic of China.

Mr. Yan was found to be a high-ranking official in an organization responsible for overseeing and managing a location operating an illegal surrogacy ring. He secretly operated an unlicensed medical facility to provide illegal artificial insemination and surrogacy services, with numerous unsuspecting clients and a massive amount of money circulating within the system. He was also found to be involved in other criminal offenses.

Ms. Mi was an accomplice and a controlling shareholder in the company. Her key role was in marketing, expanding the customer base, and recruiting members or victims to use surrogacy services at the illegal medical facility.
