Police Summon Individuals Involved in Police Colonel Joe’s Death for Questioning

Prachachuen: Police Station Superintendent prepares to send a letter requesting permission from the Corrections Department Director-General to summon 5-6 people involved in the case of Superintendent Joe’s death for questioning. Pol. Col. Sanya Ubonwiratana, Superintendent of Prachachuen Police Station, disclosed the case of the death of Pol. Col. Thitisan Uthanaphon, also known as Superintendent Joe, that initially, investigators were sent with a letter to request permission from the Director-General of the Department of Corrections to question 5-6 people whose names were involved on the day of the incident in which Superintendent Joe died, including witnesses, those who went to help, and prisoners in the rooms surrounding Superintendent Joe’s cell.

According to Thai News Agency, when asked whether the news that a summons was about to be issued to the prison guard who was the opposing party to Superintendent Joe, who was accused of assaulting him, and whose relatives had previously filed a complaint and forwarded the case to several relevant agencies, was true, since the assault case had been going on for more than two months, Pol. Col. Sanya said that the news was not true. After receiving the complaint, they continued to take action, trying to coordinate with the prison to go and inspect the scene and to ask for statements from those involved twice, but the investigators were unable to enter because they had not yet received permission from the prison. He confirmed that the police officers did not make a mistake and did everything according to legal procedures.

However, today, the relatives of Director Joe asked to postpone giving their statement, but it is expected that they will come within this week.
